Google to Buy Twitter
April 3rd, 2009 // 7:03 am @ Dan Horton SEO
Its no wonder that the Micro blogging service of Twitter has caught the eye of Google. Such a successful service like Twitter is unlikely to escape acquisition from the mighty G. I wonder what sort of price Google is willing to pay for Twitter though ?
Face book had already offered a large sum for Twitter but the offer was declined. I can easily see just how beneficial it would be for Google to buy twitter, purely because of the instantaneous feed that Twitter provides such data would add to the power of search, especially real time information.

SEO issue, duplicate content ? Fear not the answer is here. There is new HTML tag that can minimise duplicate content issues which are potentially harming your search engine rankings.
The canonical tag can be inserted within code to give search engines more focus when looking at pages with similar content on a website, effectively giving webmasters more control on which URLs will be displayed in the serps.
Yahoo will be implementing the tag shortly, swiftly followed by Microsoft.

SEO Essential for Marketing
February 23rd, 2009 // 8:57 am @ Dan Horton SEO
It’s no surprise just how high companies place SEO on the marketing agenda. More than 90% of online merchants use SEO as a technique to actively promte their business. Just of 60% claim that SEO makes up at least half of their traffic to their websites.
The line between ethical seo and unethical still seems to be a thin one for many. White hat or black hat and indeed what exactly are each seems to be the question. To my mind the seo industry is still held back to an extent by so called “SEO Companies” offering number one rankings with dubious techniques – like keyword stuffing for example.
Bring on the white hat training forums. Implementing a good ethical SEO strategy will boost company sales.
