George Maxwell Not Distinctive Enough Chesterfield Sofa Go Hell For Leather

Crikey, I thought the SEO industry was bad enough in terms of competition. But the recent rants on the  Dave Naylor blog about Chesterfield Sofas take some beating. It’s difficult when an SEO gets caught in the cross fire regarding a client’s website. Business is business we all know that but who would have thought that something like a club chair or a sofa would cause such a stir?

Our client Distinctive Chesterfields  recently had its domain name copied by some company called George Maxwell  UK, now it seems to be daggers at dawn and lots of smoke and mirror action as to why this was done and indeed if copyright was infringed. Personally, I know the web designer who did our client’s site and it’s totally legitimate. In my eyes it seems somewhat unfair when other companies try to steal the glory for another persons hard work.

What a fuss over furniture. Why not concentrate on your own site, rather than seeing how best to get a seedy foot up the ladder?

SEO Secrets

I’ve worked with the famous DaveN SEO for pretty much a year now. On a daily basis there is something new to learn, a different angle that certain new approach that you hadn’t really thought of with a website. It has to be said though the majority of SEO work undertaken is on the whole common sense, by this I don’t mean the tasks are child-play.

New search technologies are arriving each week, new SEO’s are coming to the fold. People flock to those with SEO fame like bees round honey. Iv’e worked with a number of people over the years, yet few seem to have shared their experience and knowledge as much as those within the SEO industry.

If you follow a well structured plan for your website and keep committed to it, is there really any SEO secrets?  NO.

Horton The Elephant

Ok, so i’m on a diet big time. But it was hardly fair of Disney to release this film in dedication.

According to WIKI “  Horton is a kind, sweet-natured elephant who cares about other animals or people” so i’ll stick with those thoughts ;)

Horton the Elephant indeed. Think I will sue Disney lol

Information Architecture Website Splitting

After skimming search engine land today I see yet more debate on the No Follow attribute. I think the conclusion drawn there is reality the attribute is bound to be devalued. Do Seo’s really need to think so seperately though in terms of website construction ? One side of the site caters for spiders the other for visitors. NO!

The active process of thinking about SEO like this is bound to dilute the end product of a website being resourceful and highly relevant to the target audience. Information architecture should be a flowing process and as natural as the website content.

LinkedIn Mobile

Not yet on the LinkedIn Mobile network? Perhaps now is a good time to get your self there as the site is due for a revamp. The site will be getting a much improved service which will be happy days for it’s already established user base of 20million.

Added to the LinkedIn features will be an Open Social Platform, add to this integrated news and a sharing facility it’s bound to be a winner. Fancy promoting yourself of a global basis? Well LinkedIn could be the answer with its plans for multi language.

The decision for such a network to be made mobile on WAP,iPhone and Blackberry is a sure sign of things to come.

Facebook Gets Slap in Face

Data is now indicating that the highly successful social networking site Facebook has seen its first decline of UK users this year for the month of January. As a facebook user I think I know why. The site has mass appeal to start with as you add people you know, but then of course it is dependant on your “friends” logging in too.

This decline does not really sit well with those corporations looking to use Facebook as an advertising platform, especially with fears about devaluing the facebook brand.

We wonder what the development of Windows Live Space will bring……

Myspace or Google ?

According to Trellian Myspace still tops the leader board when it comes to driving traffic with a score of 13,198,464 searches not far behind it though is Google with 13,007,590.

Social networks win the day in search then, but in a recent interview I did with a well known SEO guru he told me watch out for the things offline that soon become popular online. Be aware of the language that people are using, especially buzzwords of the moment.

Shake that Funky Googleplex

 An inspirational Google song perhaps…

You find this post complex ? Why not give it some deep thought ;)

Searchin’

Well, I’ve been searchin’, I’ve been searchin’
I’ve been searchin’ every week and day
Well, I’ve been searchin’, I’ve been searchin’
I’ve been searchin’ every which way
Like the North West Mountain you know I’ll bring her in someday

Well, if I have to climb a mountain, you know I will
And if I have to swim a river, you know I will

No matter where she goes, Oh Lord, you know I will
And if I have to climb a mountain, you know I will
And if I have to swim a river, you know I will
I know she’s hiding up there
If you marry him don’t you know I’ll find her, child I will

Well Sherlock Holmes, Sam Spade gonna put that child on me
No matter where she’s hiding
She gonna tell me you’re coming
I’m gonna walk right down that street just like bulldog jumping
Cause I’ve been searchin’, I’ve been searchin’
I’ve been searchin’ every which way
Like the North West Mountain you know I’ll bring her in someday

Microsoft Enterprising Bill Expands Search

Recently Bill Gates hinted at yet more developments in Mobile technology and gave a 5 year term to innovative touch technology in most people’s homes for photo browsing.

Far away then from consumer  Microsoft now has Fast Search and Transfer ASA under its belt an ever growing enterprise search tool meaning people can find the information they need within companies with greater alacrity.

The amount of informational resource most companies had on hand are really even tapped into, in parallel one could draw the same conclusion about the ever rapid expansion of the internet and information search engines are still missing.
